On Saturday April 13, 2024, Stanford Men's Rugby hosted UC Santa Cruz for a series of 7s scrimmages at Steuber Rugby Stadium. After the cancellation of Santa Barbara 7s due to weather, the Cardinal pivoted to hosting UCSC to kick off rugby 7s matches for the spring. The weather cleared in Palo Alto just in time for kick off. Matches 1, 3, and 5 were played by the A sides of both teams, as matches 2 and 4 provided opportunities for players newer to the game to experience the pace and space of the seven-a-side version of rugby union. The scores for the scrimmages are below. The Cardinal will head to Santa Cruz on Saturday April 27th for the Santa Cruz 7s invitational where they will have the opportunity to face teams from all over California.
