Stanford Polo Newbie Highlight - Carlos Valencia

Meet Carlos Valencia—our spirited freshman and rising polo talent.

Carlos discovered the club his first fall quarter at Stanford through a flyer on a door, drawn by the promise of riding horses at Stanford. "I didn't think it was real until I checked the club's Instagram!" he laughs. After seeing that tryouts guaranteed saddle time, he figured there was nothing to lose. His polo journey began atop Pistolero, where his natural enthusiasm and quick learning made him stand out.

Through Fall, Winter, and Spring quarters, Carlos has become an invaluable presence—bringing relentless dedication, positive energy, and fun to every practice.

His rapid growth was recognized at the Davis Walk-Trot match, where referees named him MVP—an impressive feat. As our Publicity Intern, he skillfully manages our partnership with the U.S. Polo Assn. and keeps our Instagram page buzzing. Beyond his official roles, Carlos radiates a contagious passion for polo.

Whether he's mastering his swing, practicing a trot, or photographing the team, he embodies the welcoming culture we cherish. His commitment to learning and a team-first attitude make him a natural fit in our community.

We can't wait to see Carlos compete in more tournaments next season. The legacy of SPC is bright with players like him galloping forward!
