The Cardinal will look to defend their National Championship on Saturday April 19th on home turf against Bay Area rivals Cal. The Cardinal secured a berth in the finals following their victory over Western Washington who they beat two weeks prior in the Pacific Mountain Rugby Conference finals.

The physical match was an exchange of possession and territory in the first 20 plus minutes. The Cardinal stayed resilient and determined to work into Viking territory.  Fullback Cara Feit '25 was first to score in the 23^rd minute in the corner. Flyhalf Laura Bocek '25 diligently put the ball to boot to play in the Viking half with her team chasing on in each endeavor. The Vikings fielded kicks well and held the Cardinal to the single try in the first half. The Viking made good on a penalty kick just before half for a score of 5-3 to the Cardinal at the break.

The second half displayed the fitness and depth of the Cardinal roster as they went on to score six unanswered tries. Winger Dominique Ruedaflores '27, #8 Kirsten Lees '27, flanker Emma Troast '26, Bocek '25, and reserve lock Madisyn Cunningham '27 dotted down for the Cardinal before the Vikings scored with just a few minutes remaining. The Cardinal semifinal victory was capped off by reserve lock Paige Fitzpatrick '28 in the final seconds.

Stanford Women's Rugby's 42-10 victory over Western Washington locks in their return to the Farm on April 19^th when they will host the USA Rugby 2025 CRAA Spring College National Championship event for the D1A, D1, and D2 conferences. Join us on a buzzing Cardinalpalooza to cheer on the Cardinal as they take on Cal in the final. Cal defeated Grand Canyon University and Claremont College on their road to the final. Cal and Stanford met once in the regular season with the Cardinal claiming the head to head.
