A three-time letterman at Stanford from 1939-41, Pete Kmetovic '42 was a member of the 1940 “Wow Boys” team that finished a perfect 10-0 and ranked second in final AP poll. Named MVP of the 1941 Rose Bowl in a 21-13 victory over Nebraska in a game regarded by many as revolutionizing football with the introduction of the T-formation, he rushed for 141 yards on 14 carries and returned a punt 39 yards for the game-winning touchdown in the game. Kmetovic was drafted 3rd overall in the 1942 NFL Draft by the Philadelphia Eagles and played two seasons in the NFL for the Philadelphia Eagles and Detroit Lions. He returned to Stanford to coach football and rugby and later was named Manager of Game Operations and Facilities.
