About

The Stanford Club Water Polo team is a co-ed, aquatic-loving group of undergrad and graduate students that welcomes all who are interested. Our membership draws anywhere from people who played seriously in high school or undergrad to those who have little or no aquatic sport experience. We like to balance being a fun and welcoming group with competitive spirit in our practices and in our games against other schools.

Our league season is in the fall and consists of a series of weekend tournaments at nearby schools such as UC Santa Cruz and Cal Maritime where we play club teams from a dozen different universities in Northern California. In the winter and spring, we typically enter into 2-3 weekend tournaments for some competitive fun in the off-season. We hold three practices per week - Monday/Thursday nights and Sunday afternoons - at Avery Aquatics Center. Practices are two hour time slots with the first 30-40 minutes dedicated to warm-up and the rest to scrimmaging. There is no attendance requirement for practices or games; players are welcome to come when they can.

In addition to playing water polo, we also host several social events for the team each year, including team dinners, bonfires, casual parties, and our famous board game nights. Of course, our favorite social events are the inevitable hot tub hangouts that occur after every practice.

JOIN NOW

Our club is open to all who are interested. We do not have tryouts or makes cuts to our team in any way. Most people who first join either hear about our team from events such as the Activities Fair or tag along to practice as friends of current members and end up joining themselves. Simply come to one of our practices at Avery Aquatics Center or reach out to one of our team members to join. All surprise show-ups are welcome!
