Stanford 63 – UC Davis 5
Stanford Women's Rugby hosted UC Davis in their second Pacific Mountain Rugby Conference match of the 2026 season.
The roster extended a heartfelt welcome back to fullback Cara Feit '26 after a nine-month absence. Feit picked up where she left off last season, threatening the line with every touch and protecting the backfield on incoming kicks. Another shoutout goes to rookie Kat Lai '26, who not only played in her first rugby match but also earned a starting role on the wing for the Cardinal.
The match was lively from the outset, as Stanford tallied eight tries in the first half.
Anabella Hernandez '26 opened the scoring with a line break and try in the opening minutes. Feit converted the extra two. Emma Cruz '26, wearing No. 7 in this match, followed shortly with a break and try of her own. Flyhalf Chisa Ogaki '28 converted, warming up her in-play kicking game.
Ogaki then added a try of her own with a break on the edge to bring the score to 19–0. The next try came in the 20th minute following a five-meter scrum for the Cardinal. Elisabeth Holm '26, in her first conference start, dove at the feet of two Aggie defenders to score. Ogaki set up Holm for the conversion, and the senior prop slotted the extra two points.
In the 22nd minute, dominant line breaks from lock Paige Fitzpatrick '28, Holm, and lock Alice Rowe '29 put the Cardinal on the front foot. Scrumhalf Vivian Studdert '28 moved the ball to Ogaki, who found center Jacqui McLean '27. Spotting the overload, McLean moved the ball quickly to Hernandez, who finished in space for her second try.
Off the ensuing kickoff, Cruz returned the ball 20 meters, and Ogaki kicked into open space inside the Aggies' 22. Under pressure from Hernandez and Lai, the Davis fullback kicked for touch. Fitzpatrick struck again with a powerful carry, stopping just meters short. The familiar Studdert to Ogaki connection created quick ball, and McLean ran in for her first try of the day.
The 31st and 35th minutes saw a pair of tries from Feit, reminding the Aggies of the elusive fullback's threat in open space. Both scores resulted from Stanford's defensive pressure, forcing Davis to kick. Feit fielded and returned both kicks, weaving through defenders to bring the halftime score to 46–0.
In the 50th minute, freshman hooker Audrey Kaplan '29, making her second start for the Cardinal, stripped the ball inside the Aggies' 22 and sprinted to the try line. Beating four defenders, she dove in for her first try of the season.
In the 63rd minute, a strong attacking sequence from a Cardinal lineout near midfield found Lai in space for a 15-meter break. Strong carries from Jana Gomri '26 and Kaplan followed, with Kaplan releasing Cruz into space. As Cruz broke through the defense, she was tackled dangerously, resulting in a yellow card and a penalty try for Stanford.
The Aggies earned a try of their own after capitalizing on a penalty inside Stanford's defensive 22.
Ogaki closed the scoring with a perfectly weighted kick through the Davis defense from midfield. The chase and bounce aligned, allowing Ogaki to gather in stride and sprint 25 meters for the final try.
The 63–5 victory improves Stanford to 2–0 in conference play. The Cardinal will host Cal Poly next Saturday, February 7, at 11:00 a.m. in what promises to be a highly competitive matchup. Cal Poly enters as the defending back-to-back D2 National Champions in their first season competing in the D1 PMRC.
